TRICARE paid $259 million for compounded prescriptions in 2013, more than $250 million above what it had paid a decade earlier, before the Pentagon restricted coverage in 2015.
The figures are as reported by Military.com in 2019. The same report said pharmacies billed between $400 and $10,000 per prescription and that at least 100 pharmacies were part of the nationwide scheme.
